Questions and answers

What does Regimecountry Plumbing actually do?

Regimecountry Plumbing is a referral service. It does not do any plumbing work and does not send out its own workers. Instead, it connects you with independent local providers in our network who handle emergency plumbing, drain clearing and sewer repair. The provider sets the price and does the work. That is why it helps to ask for a written quote before anything begins.

What should I do first if a pipe bursts or a drain backs up?

Stay safe first. Shut off the main water valve if a pipe is leaking, and turn off power to any wet area if you can reach the panel without standing in water. Move valuables out of the way. Then Request a callback to check provider availability. If you smell gas or see sewage flooding the basement, leave the area and contact your gas utility or emergency services.

Will my homeowners insurance cover the damage?

It depends on your policy and the cause. Some policies may cover sudden damage, like a burst pipe, but often exclude slow leaks, wear and neglect. Sewer backup coverage is often an extra add-on. Read your policy or ask your insurer. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, so take photos before cleanup and keep your paperwork.

What happens after I request help?

You send a short description of the problem. We pass it to a provider in our network who may reach out to talk through the details. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies. The provider looks at the problem, explains the options and gives you a price. You decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is required of you.

How much does emergency plumbing or drain work usually cost?

Typical U.S. ranges vary a lot by job. A simple drain clearing may run from around one hundred to a few hundred dollars. A pipe repair can cost more, and a sewer line repair can reach into the thousands. Pipe access, depth, materials and urgency all affect the price. Get a written quote, and compare two if time allows.

Is a camera inspection worth paying for?

Often, yes. A small camera on a cable shows what is inside the pipe, such as roots, a crack, a belly or a clog. That can help you choose between a simple clearing and a bigger repair. It may add to the bill, but it can keep you from paying for the wrong fix. Ask the provider what it costs first.

How can I keep drains from clogging again?

Fix, then maintain. Keep grease, wipes, paper towels and coffee grounds out of the drain. Use strainers in showers and sinks. Run hot water after washing dishes. Skip harsh chemical cleaners, which can harm older pipes. Have drains checked on a schedule if you have older cast iron lines or large trees near your sewer line.

How do I protect pipes and my basement through the seasons?

In cold weather, insulate exposed pipes and let a faucet drip during hard freezes. Know where your main shutoff is. Before storm and spring flood season, test your sump pump and check that the discharge line is clear. A battery backup can help if the power fails. Ask a provider about a backwater valve if your basement has flooded before.
